Radio Training - community emergency communications
Sat, 5 Apr, 9:30am - 1:30pm
Wardell CORE Rainbow Room, St Patricks Church
Join us for a hands-on Community Radio Training and Disaster Preparedness Workshop, supported by Marine Rescue NSW and the Red Cross.
This practical session will get our community emergency communication assets out in the open and into your hands—so we can build the skills and confidence needed to stay connected during a disaster.
Whether you're new to radios or just need a refresher, you'll learn:
How to use two-way radios effectively and efficiently
Radio care and maintenance
Communication basics & radio etiquette
How to use radio repeaters
Plus a Q&A session with the experts
Stick around after training for a relaxed BBQ lunch and a chance to connect with others in your community.
Let’s get prepared—together.
Together we can be stronger together by being prepared, looking out for one another and staying informed.
Pizza Night & National Neighbours Day – Sunday, 30th March 2025
We’re excited to combine our much-loved Pizza Night with National Neighbours Day – a celebration of community, connection, and belonging. This year’s theme is Create, Share, Grow Belonging, encouraging us all to take action to foster stronger social ties.
We believe that connected neighbourhoods are stronger neighbourhoods. By joining us this Sunday, you’ll help contribute to a community that:
Is better equipped to face and recover from emergencies.
Builds the communities we want to live in.
Reduces crime and creates safety.
Improves mental health and wellbeing through social connection and support.
Reduces loneliness by encouraging conversations and interactions that matter.
Let’s Celebrate Neighbours, New and Old!
We’re challenging everyone to bring along your neighbour, whether they’re old friends or someone you’ve yet to meet! Together, we’ll create a welcoming, vibrant atmosphere for the whole community.
Wood-fired pizzas served with a side of great company.
Tea, Coffee, & Cake stall hosted by Broadwater Hall.
Fun, relaxed atmosphere where you can meet new neighbours or catch up with old ones.
A great chance to contribute to building a stronger, more connected community.
Join us and make this National Neighbours Day memorable. See you there!

We are grateful to live, work and play in and around Bilaarwal (Wardell) on the banks of the Baluun ( Richmond River ). We pay our respect to the traditional owners of the Nyangbul lands in the Bundjalung Nation. We also make special recognition of the impact that the recent natural disaster has had on our near neighbours of the Monggongbin ( Cabbage Tree Island ) community.
thank you Trudy Roberts for support and permission to include Bundjalung language
“We couldn’t do this without generous support, contributions and partnerships. Acknowledging that disaster recovery takes a nation - we give thanks to all the amazing individuals, communities and organisations that continue to be a part of this journey.”
