Green Bean, Pear, and Walnut Salad with Bacon
Green Bean, Pear, and Walnut Salad with Bacon
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
500g green beans, ends trimmed
1 crisp pear, cored and sliced
100g bacon, diced
10 walnuts, broken into pieces
40ml balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Blanch the Green Beans:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch for about 5 minutes until they are al dente.
Drain the beans and rinse them briefly under cold water to stop the cooking process.
Cook the Bacon:
Heat the olive oil in a large heavy pan over medium-high heat.
Add the diced bacon and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.
Deglaze with Vinegar:
Once the bacon is cooked, deglaze the pan with the balsamic vinegar. Stir well to mix the juices, then remove the pan from the heat.
Assemble the Salad:
In a large bowl, toss the blanched green beans with the bacon and balsamic juices. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Arrange the sliced pear and walnuts on top of the beans and bacon mixture.
Serve:
Transfer the salad to a serving dish and enjoy it warm or at room temperature. Crisp green beans, sweet pears, smoky bacon, and crunchy walnuts for a perfect balance of textures and tastes. Ideal as a side dish or a light meal!
